William, I don't have a spec sheet... As I recall though, the PIAA 510's will fit... According to PIAA, the 510's, 910's, and 912's will fit. of those, the 910's are probably the brightest. The 510's are a bit cheaper though and quite bright as well (I have the 510 driving lights in my 2000 F-150, pretty slick!) :).

oh wait, you just wanted the bulbs, I thought you meant the lamps, sorry.

Matt

I want to add more light to the "STOCK" round fog light housing ?
are you saying the entire lamp will fit in the there ?
what would I have to do to get pia lights in my stock fog enclosure ?
thanks,

the 910, 912, and 510 are all circular lights and of approximately that same size, so you would replace your Ford lampw ith the PIAA lamp. According to my documentation, you shouldn't have to do anything other then remove the old lamp, stick in the PIAA (though you might need a few spacer washers), and wire em up (and you can even do what I did on my truck, and make it so they come on with your existing stock fog light switch, so no need to run more wires through the firewall. Since the PIAA's use more power though you can't just splice into the old wiring, you'd have to hook them up to the battery as you normally would, use the PIAA relay, etc. but take the wire going to the switch and splice it into the hot wire for your existing fog lights. The PIAA 510's are 4 3/8" wide circular lights, much like what you have in there now, only better ;).

then 510's it is !!!

Matt:, thanks I'm going to look for some prices on the 510's
these are a fog and not a driving light correct ? what should I( expect to pay for these lights ?
and thanks again,
William S.

William, they come in fog or driving, whichever you prefer. I have driving in mine, the fog is amber color instead of clear. If your interested you can go through me on the lights, I'm still doing the group purchase. The 510's are $170 if you want to go through the group purchase. Not sure how much they'd be locally but you can check around. E-mail me for more info, matt@explorerforum.com

Fog Lamps - on a relay circuit?

Anyone know if the fog lamps (I have a '01) are on a relay, or are they wired direct?

Matt. will just replacing the factory bulbs for PIAA bulbs ( and what is the buld number please ? ) cause any wiring problem?
Thanks in advance....

aldive, assuming PIAA made a bulb for those, no that wouldn't be a problem. The problem is most ford fog lights, despite saying they are H3's, are actually 899, which PIAA does not currently make.

They most likely use at least one relay.

Hey i didnt know the 510s could fit and totally replace the stock round fogs? I already tried Hiper brand superwhite replacement H1 bulbs (which bllew out). Do you have a URL for that doc?

THanks

soupbone, you can go to www.piaa.com, click on the main image, then go to "application guides", go to lamp guides for ford explorer. Unfortanetly it only lists the 98-00. William ordered the 510's so we'll find out for sure how well they fit in a little while :).
