Burning rubber smell

I have a 98 explorer SOHC 4.0 I have noticed recently after driving for about half an hour I can smell this burning rubber smell. I got out of the car to investigate and lifted the hood and the smell is coming from somewhere under the hood. This only seams to happen when the car has been used for more than about half an hour. Does anyone have any idea what this could be.

I'd check for any hoses or wireing that may have fallen aginst one of the exhaust manifolds.
