calling all headunit guru's

my kenwood excelon cd headunit ( KDC-X617) recently turned off and wont turn back on for no apparent reason. no fuses blown or anything like that. i took it out and put in a new alpine. this happened about 6 months ago but recently i looked in my closet and saw it sitting there again. its a perfectly good enough headunit and i'm curious as to what it could be. if anybody has any ideas or tests that i can do, let me know. even better if anybody out there knows how to repair one, let me know that too and we can work something out.

Did you happen to take it apart to look to see if it had a melt down? Just because it didn't blow an external fuse doesn't mean it didn't fry. Give it the gool old fashion sniff test and see what it smells like. If it's fried, you will know it.

is there any way for me to get power to it again without actually reinstalling it in the truck? i could hook it up easier in my jeep maybe, mostly since thats up here and not 108 miles away........if need be

i'm taking the cover off now to see if anything looks messed up inside

splice the red and yellow wires together and touch to pos on battery, touch the black to the neg on battery see if it turns on.

[damn thing works perfectly. i just installed it in my wrangler. i have no idea why it shut off before then.

anybody want to buy my old wrangler headunit. it too is a kenwood. only 2 months old. kenwood kdc-2019?
