i replaced my Cam Synchro last night, using the cheap aftermarket Dorman. After initial install, and start up, i had P0352, ignition coil B fault. It was never tripped before the repair of the synchro, so i cleared the code and then tried starting the truck. it still was hesitating and misfiring slightly. finally, i disconnected both coils, cranked it twice, and then reinstalled the coil connections. Now, the check engine light does not come back on and the truck runs better than ever. i am confident in saying that the truck never ran as crisp and responsive as it does now. i have read elsewhere though that apparently that misaligned synchro's can cause pistons to burn. perhaps to increased combustion temperatures. Can anyone give me some advice on this part? i am thinking of taking it to an emission testing facility and running a smog check. the NOX will be sky high if my combustion temp is not correct, and thus save me a piston.
