Your vid was most helpful!!! That's the exact noise that was coming from my 96 4.0 v6. This noise occurred on the first startup of the day, everyday for two months, and then just stopped. I had it to Ford; they told me it was the camshaft positioning sensor, but wanted $1000.00 to replace it (said the intake manifold has to come off to get to it).
My question is this: Should I have the repair done now, or wait, since the noise has gone away for now? Ford told me I will soon be on foot.
you know i went though an idler pulley, tensioner assembly, belt, and even a fan clutch looking for that noise. now i realize that for another $300 i can get rid of it. sweet. lol
