I was wondering if I could find a setup that would make my X sound like the 5.0 Mustang with the deep throaty sound? The early 90's GT that kicked ass in the sound department.
probablly so yes. a flowmaster 40 or 50 will definatley make it sound throaty. A kkm filter, although it doesn't do anything GOOD for your performance, will also make it sound meaner. I really like the sound of mine, good thing too cos it takes it forever to get up to speed.
Most definitely. I have a 1997 Explorer V8 engine in my 1999 Ranger. I have the FRPP headers and a custom made 3.5" mandrel bent stainless exhaust system. I am using all 4 stock cats and a Dynomax style muffler.
I have the SOHC with the same muffler as Darkfox1 with dual exhaust and it sounds almost the same as his. If I were you I would definately go with dual exhaust.
Darkfox1... I have a copy of your wav if you can't find one.
lol, glad to know that, cos I dont think I have it. I want to make a better one. it sounds ok in park, but it sounds much better when its driving, I'll get a friend to record a pass or something.. it'll be a SLOW pass since my vehicles 0-60 involved the need of a raincheck
LOL... it does sound much better when in gear. Last night I had a friend fly by in my truck and right when he got to where I was standing he floored it and... O man... I didnt know it sounded so good.
you let someone else drive your ride?? man, my friends are lucky when they get to hold my keys to get something out of ym car, the only people that drive my car is me my parents and the dealership
Well, he is the only one of my friends I trust to drive it. I know he wont try anything stupid. He is very timid and was nervous when I asked him to drive it. My parents are not allowed to drive it tho. My mom will probably get a headache from the exhaust and my dad will want to 'see what shes got'. And from now on, the dealer is no longer allowed to drive it from the building to the parking lot after I drop it off. There is some old guy that does that (that is his job) and everytime I get back in my radio is so messed up, my equilizer is all changed, every position of my seat is different, as well as the tilt steering, rear view and side mirrors. Last time I went in and he got up from his chair I said "You can sit right there Pops. I'll take it out." He didnt argue with me... I think he knew I was pissed.
must be nice, my dealership demands to drive it, wont let me even take it out on the road to show them what its doing. They argue every time I have any problem that it is my "engine mods" yoou know the only things I've done is exhaust and kkm.. thtas it.. yet they think its causing ALL my problems. 9mpg 0-60 in 15 seconds.. and my exhaust and kkm is the PROBLEM.. ya right.
My dad is not quite like that, he says "it drives fine, you just have a lead foot" and the like. I tell them I want to do something.. anything.. even a cam swap "you dont need to do that" I dont?? its getting worse gas mileage than a suburban!!! I've got to do something.
oh yea.. about the sound, sorry to get off the topic guys, I'm going to try maybe today, to get my friend to tape me with my laptop. It has the best bass response from the mic. I'll drive up into my garage or something heh, that will let me hit probablly 3k rpm or so. If hes off today. HE'LL TAPE I'LL DRIVE lol
