umm no. The v8 explorers make about 235 to the crank, the aviators make about 292 to the crank, not the wheels.

its not all about the power. what is the road like? Is he a fast driver? i beat a 2005 comero in mine. I just have a stock ohv v6 and im missing fourth gear. You could win just out drive him.

Are you trying to say you beat an 05 camaro? If so well you didn't since they don't exist. Chevy stopped production in 2002. As far as 2 explorers, avaitors, whatever racing the driver isn't that important. They're both loaded down with all kinds of auto 4x4 or awd, traction control, etc. It's pretty much mash the gas and go. The driver only comes into play for reaction time (how long it takes them to mash the gas when the last yellow lights up on the tree).

sory i meant 1995 comaro. and you are completely right

NVM, my dyno sheet says 196 at the wheels for a stock V8 explorer. Aviators are much closer to the 300 mark than the explorer. Aviators have the 4.6L DOHC 32v engine, same one that was in the late model cobra, minus the supercharger, and they are stupidly fast for their size.

And your comparing whp, to crank hp, which doesn't work, apples to oranges etc. The avaitors were rated at 292 to the crank, which probably puts them in the 250whp range at best.

people still "race" these days?

Just on the interwebthingy...apparently...:p:

To the OP...why even ask? Got to a track, line 'em up, have at it and report the results.

Either way, go for it. You'll still have fun. Maybe he'll be late off the line. Or maybe you'll have more traction faster?
