hey, i was looking at dynomax's high flow converters and you have several options from size and types. does anyone know the difference from a 2 or 3-way converter or one with +AIR? also, is a shorter cat restrict less? check it out.

im thinking of welding up a dual exhaust; 2 high flow cats into an X-pipe and out to 2 dynomax Ultra-Flo Welded Mufflers? i think this would be the most optimum exhuast setup? what do you think?

High flow cats don't do a thing for performance with our Explorers -- but anyway, AIR is a system used awhile back to oxidize emissions (a system to help clean up the atmosphere). Obviously, our Explorers don't have it. But with 2-way and 3-way I dunno what that means. Call up Dynomax, they'll tell you. But many people on here have tried the high flow cats and have not recieved any positive feedback.

EDIT: found this definition for ya: Air Injection Reactor (AIR) - Air pump injects air into exhaust manifold which burns unburned portion of exhaust fumes.

would the AIR do anything in increasing or decreasing horses? since a high flow converter dont do much, would a shorter body one do anything better?

The only thing the AIR system does is oxidize the emissions. AIR is purely for emissions, not HP gains or anything.

The 3-ways clean up the NOx in the exhaust, and our Explorers do use 3-ways. A longer cat will clean the exhaust better than a shorter one, but I doubt if there's any difference in backpressure.

I think this would be an excellent exhaust setup, and probably sound great. Biggest problem would be where to route the pipes.....?

im ganna keep the exhaust pipes pointing outwards but tucked under the rear door areas. i dont want exhaust really visual. i want it hidden, im actualy now considering Hushpower mufflers now, im very very curious how that would sound, but dynomax mufflers definatly have more flow. idk cant decide
