Hi,
Change oil light comes on after 5,000 KM. This time it came on after only 2, 500 km. Though it has been 3 months since last oil change.
Any thoughts on why change oil light came on earlier than 5,000 KM?
Thanks very much for your help!!

Maybe it wasn't reset the last time it turned on.

Last time the Explorer had done 5,000 km as I checked the oil change invoices.

So if it was not reset the last time the light would have shown again in a few days or few weeks and not 3 months later.

I called the service garage and they said, there are sensors built in, which decide when the oil has to be changed depending on wear and tear and not the completion of 5000 km.

Well in the past it was by and large 5000 km, perhaps the explorer is getting old as its done 100,000 miles or 156,000 KM

Just re-set it to 100%. Now there is no light. From the KM gauge when it reaches 5000Km (which is actually 5000miles/8000Km per the manual) I'll get the oil changed at that time.

How to reset see attached picture from the Explorer Manual.
