I have a 99 Ranger 4x4 automatic with a 4.0 pushrod motor that went bad so I found a motor out of a 98 explorer and put it in and since then I have been having problems with how the tranny is shifting, also the check eng light is on. It revs up and doesn't shift smooth like it should. Now I had to take the upper intake off of the ranger motor and put it on the explorer motor since the explorer motor had an egr and the ranger did not. I also had to switch the camshaft positioning sensor and shaft since the ranger plug in was a 2 prong and the explorer was a 3 prong. Is there something else that I might need to do to get this set up to work right? Maybe try to hook up the egr set up somehow?

Before you do anything find out which code you threw.

I took my truck in to Autozone and they hooked up a code reader for me and it read two codes 171, and 174. The guy there said that meant it was running too lean and to check the vacuum lines.
