probably dont expect anything to be there, but about 10 mins from there... maybe if they make a set sometime i can save shipping! anyways, maybe ill see something else cool there

went there.. apparently they aint there no more als headers at the place... the guy there (pottery??) said that others have come by previously looking for als headers, but since hes been there theres been no als headers... not sure anymore... theyre not at the address on the map at least... peole have come by multiple times before, even with parts in hand, but he doesnt know if theyre around anymore... BBB says theyre still in biz, but theyre nowhere to be found... ill try calling the # on the TMH site, theyre PO is in palmdale, maybe they moved out there? stay tuned

We ordered a set last year and received them

Robert told me last year when I spoke with him that if the website is taking orders then they are still building the headers. I am waiting patiently to see if the set we ordered in Jan shows up.

I do have plans to build my own simple log style Manifold that will easily outflow the stock bits….
But it will be a while I have a few projects to finish first

huh alright!!!! supposedly they havent been in that locatioj on google maps for at leasst a year and a half! so that wouldve been before you spoke with Rob... where was the return address if you remember? this is what i see outside...but when i call the # on google maps theres an answer machine with what seems to be the right idea of als headers, but it doenst list location

I was initially 'taken back' by TMH cost. I am a decent welder/fabricator, enough so I thought of getting premade stuff to build headers on the vehicle. I did not get past the thought stage as I realized I do not have the time nor want to take the time to make a one-off set even if I could actually 'pull it off' at my skill level. Then I saw the quality of TMH. They are pricey, but for their design with jigs to replicate/make a great quality header and a fine coating, they are worth the price to me. It would be nice if Rob could at least sell the jigs to someone who else who would carry these on.

I only think I should have heat tape wrapped them in addition to the coating as these rigs have tight and hot engine bays...........................

ill keep trying to find them... i see a phone number on the TMH site, so maybe ill call tonight... and maybe they'll call back when i called the als headers # yesterday (not the same as the TMH site) wonder where they moved....

I think some forward and up facing style headers would be cool.. move the battery to the rear and you can put the coolant and window wash reservoirs in its location, and that should give enough room to put a turbo where they go...

Kinda cramped but I think there's room to fit the up pipes on the D side, maybe move the PS reservoir and go E fans..

@Fix4Dirt Another thing to consider since you're in California is smog, which I'm guessing you have considered, but thought I'd mention it. I've had to sweet talk pretty much every smog shop I've gone to since I installed mine 10-11 years ago. I've never been failed but some shops have wanted to fail me, and I have brought printed copies with me of the CARB info, part number, EO number, etc. to help convince them. Because unfortunately the CARB website lists Explorers but not Mountaineers as the type of vehicle these headers are approved for. All of the smog trouble combined with the fact that the headers don't make any detectable difference in power, they're a PITA to install and work around, the countless number of spark plug wires they've destroyed due to heat, and the high price, I try to tell people that they're not even worth it. Mine are trapped in my engine bay with my shock mounts/engine cage, but one day when I pull the motor, they're getting sold.

luckily i have an X though uhaul thinksi have a mounty... i do see that due to them being equal length they use every cube of space available!!! i just dont like the stock manifolds... that is a good point to consider though, i woul dprobably wrap them in that heatvtape stuff

True yours is an Explorer and mine's a Mountaineer, but last time I smogged it the shop said I needed a sticker from Torque Monster with all the pertinent info in order to be legal. Sounds like that would have been the case for an Explorer too. My point is, just be prepared to fight with shops if you still do decide to get them. I had a friend make me a sticker after that in case I run into that again, haha. I need to smog mine again in the next month so fingers crossed.

they make power on a stock truck, this has been proven on a dyno
With careful wire routing melting wires is not a problem
My old BBK headers had the CA carb certification info welded right onto the header, too bad the TMH don't do that
I once rented a trailer from U haul with my Explorer simply because I told them it was a mountaineer, they never checked

They are no more difficult to install then a replacement manifold aside from not being able to get a socket on 3 of the fasteners on the pass side hahahaha that part IS a PITA but I have gotten good at it

I agree a simple log header with larger primaries and no choke points is needed, yes you could easily make them face forward for turbo application

It took him about 3 months to get back to me about ordering a set
He had some health issues in like 2019 that changed things.

I'll just throw in my $.02... my cheap eBay headers would not seal to the exhaust ports on the head, I had to give them to a machine shop to get the flanges ground straight. One of the primaries hit the engine mount below it, requiring modifications to the mount. I can't say for sure that the Torque Monsters would have been better, but I'd be willing to spend the extra money to find out after all the ass pain I went through getting mine to work.

Did this ever get sorted out? I'm also in L.A. and looking for a pair of TM headers. I made an email inquiry to the email on the TM website earlier this week but haven't heard back yet.

I hope Al's is still around and they're still available...

Everything is hard to get now due to the recent economy disaster, so lots of things have to ordered, and waited for.

I have tracking information that says I have two new wheels coming today, which I ordered from Summit last September. I have hopes the first pair of the same wheel come soon too, which I ordered first, last June, from Year One. The wheels are not that special, shouldn't be that is, Magnum 500 replica wheels, 15x8", which should fit lots of 70's Fords and Dodge cars. Things which used to be easy and fast to buy, now take ages while you hope to get them.
