For those of you with chips ( all brands )... have you had any troubles caused by the chip?

Please make comments too.

hypertech power programmer 3 and no problems whatsoever.

I think they are junk, never worked right for me. I had a superchip and it ran fine for awhile but then started acting up

For the short time I had my superchip I must say it gave me no problems but it was definitely not worth it's price, or the prices I had to pay at the pump. I would NOT purchase another one.

got a superchip. only problem i ran into was a little corrosion on my contacts which made the truck stall. superchips sent me a new one for free and i fabbed up a gasket to keep moisture out of the ecu compartment and i havent had a problem since.

i would definitely get it all over again - i think its the best mod for the buck.

Hypertech chip without any problems.

superchip

Superchip and i love it, no problems what so ever

i have no chip in the X, but have had 1 Diablo, 1 Hypertech programmer, and 2 Hypertech chips in various other vehicles and never had any trouble whatsoever.

My Jet chip changed my shift points but that was about it. There was anominal increase in power right away but only cus my engine and truck in general were in tip top shape. Now that i havent had time do do all the weekly maint stuff, its not improving anything. And can anyone say PING.....

My superchip has been great. I ordered it through the group buy on this site and it didnt work at first. The problem was with the computer code. My computer had been flashed when the previous owner had it. I called superchips and they told me where to look for the new code but I couldnt read what it said because the dealer used a pen to write it on the sticker and it had faded. I went to the dealer and they used their computer to look it up. It was a long number and I called superchips back and gave them that number. They were able to figure out the 4 digit code and I sent the chip out to have it reprogrammed to that code. Its been great since. I really like what it does with the shifting.

no experience with a chip for an Explorer but I had a hypertech programmer for my 97' 5.7 chevy p/u and it worked great and is for sale too!

:bounce: I HAVE A JET CHIP IN MY 2002 X SPORT NO PROBLEMS YET ALSO RUNNING A K&N AIR INTAKE AND A MACK EXHAUST FROM EXPLORER EXPRESS

Been running an Apten chip for a few months....no problems related to the chip. I'm going to get a dyno test to see how much of an improvement in performance the chip has made....my X runs great though, so I guess based on feel I'd say the chip has been a good thing.

I got the apten chip with an 87 burn for the time being. At first I didnt really think it made much difference, but when I took it out I realized just how much better it really does shift. The raised redline doesnt come into play often. Stock shift programming sucks. Once youve had better, you realize just how much it hunts and how slow it is to kick down.

Sometimes I think I shoulda just bought a shift kit since I dont think Im gonna reburn this thing for premium gas when Im tryin to sell the truck.

As you can see I have the Apten chip. I have not had any problems with it at all and love the extra boost it provides. I would recommend it to others.

I thought these weren't available for the 5R tranny?

Diablo chip - no problems. Going on 18 months and 30k miles. Great improvement in shifting and low end torque.

Apten Chip and anyone who has been arround for awhile knows how much I love it! Better gas milage, MORE Power, and The Shifting is great! Best power mod to date (EE SuperCharger will probably take the top honors here real soon. LOL
