Decided to introduce my new Daily Driver "Clifford". A 2006 F-150 FX4 with a 6" Lift, Flowmaster Outlaw Dual exhaust, Roush CAI, and a Superchips Dashpaq tuner. Its got 35x12.5x20" tires on it. I'm not real happy about the 20" tires, much rather have 17s but they'll do for now. I'm really enjoying driving it. I've always wanted a truck with duals, a lift etc. and this one came with everything already on it! It sounds great, and with the tuner it'll pull the camper like its not even there. I do hope to soon have a Raptor style grill on it, I've already ordered new headlight housings with a black background rather than chrome.

Beautiful truck

@traveler That's a fine looking piece of machinery there! Two questions, how many miles and what kind of lift (body or suspension or combination)?

That looks like the hot sister of the F-150 whose horn is in my Explorer now.

It's got about 130,000 on it and it's a Rough Country 6" chassis lift. Rides and drives nice. LoL oddly enough I don't like the horn, only one of the tones works.

clifford!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D great name, imo. thats one nice truck, thats for sure!!!! wont replace the eddie, right? those 35s are real nice looking ;)

LoL, no not replacing Eddie. We're kinda stuck with each other. I've got too much money "invested" in Eddie to sell her and no one really wants her as bad as I do anyway. I like the 35's too, though I wish they were on 17" wheels. I'd LOVE to get a set of Raptor Take offs and put those on it.

@traveler Not to steal your thread, but if the horn on yours is the same as the one I took, it should be easily accessible when you put the hood up, on the passenger side of the radiator support. There should be a little bracket holding both horns wired in tandem, with a harness on the upper horn. Removing one without removing the other might not work very well, the contacts seem fairly well integrated into the horn assembly. You could cut and splice the wires, or just replace both horns together.

I discovered when installing the new headlights that it's a LOT easier to reach the horn with the headlights removed. Now I just have to remember to pick up a replacement when I'm at the pick n pull.

Discovered this while checking on the fender flares. Is it worth the trouble to flip them so the arrow actually is pointing up?

@traveler Is that a shock absorber? Ideally you want to keep those the way they're designed to be oriented. Some have different valving on the compression than on the rebound (figure on how this is accomplished). If the up arrow is pointed down, though, it's possible that this was done for some reason by the installer, such as clearance issues. If you're going in there any way, why not upgrade while you're at it? Hard not to recommend Rancho's X series.

flip up. i know the tube shocks i worked with (idk about monotube ones) they have vales at the bottom, but when it is now on top the oil cant flow right, so it accelerated wear.

tldr: oil cant flow properly to lubricate

Yes they're rear shocks. They are the rough country shocks that cane with the 6" lift. Does rancho make a shock for a 6" lift?
I'll get them flipped this weekend.

not sure, their site lets you check tho. if not you'd have to order by length (compressed and extended), and hope the valving rate etc is good, if not idk custom shocks? hahahahahahaahahahha kidding. usually rancho does a pretty good job at a 1 size fits all especially the rs9000

@traveler RS5000X or RS9000X, the 9000's have adjustable valving, if that's something you'd be interested in. I know they make one for a 3" lift, but as @Fix4Dirt said, you could order by length rather than by vehicle compatibility. Beyond that, I can't say much else for sure.

yep if they dont make one already id do RS9k since you can adjust the valving to your liking since based on length its nto vehicle specific ive found some to be too soft others too hard by length, so adjustable sounds en fuego

Quick catch up. I put new rear shocks on it, found out that Rough Country replacement shocks work great and aren't too hard on the wallet. I put them in with the arrow pointing the way it says to go. I put new headlights in it that have a black housing rather than the chrome ones. It looks a lot better and blends with the grille better.
But the bigger news is I just placed an order for new 17" wheels and 35x12.5x17 tires. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm having them shipped to the NAPA store I work at (Kind of a perk) so they can just put them in the bed of the truck and I can drive across the street to have them mounted and balanced while I work. Should be on by this Friday.
The wheels are RockTrix RT112s and the Tires are Crosswind M/T Mud Radials.

That's a sexy red truck.

Got em mounted this morning and drove straight to work. The difference is amazing. It drives better, they're much quieter, the ride is smoother, and they look great. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
