Climate Settings With Remote Start

when i use the remote start, the aircon also turns on as well as the window defoggers. is it possible to turn these functions off? can i also limit the time before it shuts down? mine runs for 15 mins before shuting down.
Fred, as per the Owner's Guide, also referred to on the Forum as the manual, the engine can be set to run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes, depending upon how you have programmed the system. Go to left display, Settings/Vehicle/Remote Start.
When using remote start, the Climate operation uses the settings when the vehicle was last turned off. See Remote Start Climate Operation in the manual.
BTW, welcome to the Forum Fred163.:wavey:

Just thought I'd bump this up. Today it was 19*F when I remote started the car. After it shut off at 15 min, I started it again so when I put my 2 year old in his car seat it would be running. When I got in the seats were very warm. So it does work when it's 19* out.

OH it works. Been cold here in NB. Mine work excellent. Only thing I want is the heated steering wheel. I see the new ones have that option. Wonder if I could get a heated steering wheel added to mine? Maybe with the new update coming. All I would have to do is jack a steering column from the dealer and all the wiring and hardware. Ahhhh, maybe I'll just by a 13. LOL.

Anyone notice the passenger seat gets hotter then the drivers seat?

Drivers seat I can hold my hand on the bottom pad and it doesn't get too hot, but passenger side gets really hot.

No have not tried it but will try it next time out in the car.

Got in my Ex after remote starting last night and the heated seats were on. Outside temp said 37F.

Per Cory, it should only activate the heated seats with a temp of 32F or below.

Perhaps the temp was 32F or less when i initially remote started it but the area warmed up to 37F because of the engine/exhaust heat?

When you did this comparison, were both seats unoccupied? If not, and you were sitting in the driver's seat and there was no passenger, your body probably absorbed some of the surface heat making it feel cooler. Just a guess.

Both occupied for around an hour thats why I thought it was a little strange.

I use heated seats all the time, I like to keep ambient air cool and have the seats on, recently I noticed they are hotter. Weird!

If you were looking at the temp. in the Ex thats why the difference. The sensing bulb, I believe, is up by the grill. In my trailblazer you need to drive a mile or two steady to get correct reading. Never checked this in Ex.

Hi guys,

Keep in mind that despite reaching a temperature less than body temperature, the seats still provide heat, in much the way one feels hot in ambient temperatures of ‘only’ 90F degrees.

That seems plausible, JohnnyDop. I hope the seat was warm enough for your frigid New York weather. :)

Sigh.. +1. I wish I didnt even know this existed so I wouldnt be disappointed.

Apparently 9 degrees is not cold enough for the heated seats to come on.

Cory.. you should already have my information but please add it to the list.

I had mine in the dealer this week for numerous problems including the heated seats not turning on. The response: “wait for SYNC update”. Actually that was the response to most of the issues listed on the ticket. How about I wait until the SYNC update to pay my note to Ford. I wonder if that would be acceptable to them?

Mine works, however 10 minutes or even 15 minutes is not enough to actually heat the seats (or the inside of the car for that matter) My Maxima worked way better, I guess it was not forced air.

Really? It's been down to 15°f here. I was impressed at how quickly it produced hot air

You should go to the previous thread where the Performance Upgrade feature set is published in a PDF document, print it out, take it to the dealer and ask the dealer to show you where on that document does it show upgrades to fix your issues.

Reached -24C (-11F) last night. Friday and Saturday they are forecasting possible rain!!

Have you tried setting the fan at maximum speed before shutting the car down? I think the remote start uses the last settings used before the ignition was turned off.
