Welcome to the Forum tedmary01.:wavey:
Do you have the setting in the left information display for Remote Start set to AUTO for the climate? You can chose various items to come ON.
Remote Start controls, Heat/AC, Front Defrost, Rear Defrost, Driver's Seat and Passenger's Seat. For them to come on with remote start, the settings must be AUTO or ON for those with the ON/OFF option.
It is all listed in your Owner's Guide.
I also merged your thread with this one which discusses the same issue.

Peter

Exactly correct. Follow what Peter said. Your setting might be set to LAST SETTING. Change that to default AUTO and you should be fine..

Also, it's not going come on until it's warm, if it's on auto. In summer it will blast the a/c when appropriate.

Last setting mode for remort start options?

So say i drove home with the heated seats on and i have last setting as what i want when i remote start...why is it when i remote start it..the heated seats icon doesn't pop up? SHould it be on the last setting i had it on when i shut the car off?

Was also the other AM getting a two horn beep when i tried to remote start..it wouldn't do it..so i started it normal...when i tired again it worked fine..just something i noticed

As mentioned several times in this thread, AUTO is the setting you should be using for remote start.

remote start - default Climate control settings

I really like the option of remotely starting my 2014 Explorer limited on a freezing winter day.. However what I find missing is ability to set default climate control settings. For example, I need the defrost to be turned on, the steering wheel and the driver seat warming up and the temperature at max. Anyone know how this can be done?

From the owners manual (remote start settings available via instrument cluster)

Climate Control Auto or Last Setting
Seats Auto or Off
Wheel Auto or Off
Duration 5, 10 or 15 minutes

REMOTE START (IF EQUIPPED)
The remote start feature allows you to pre-condition the interior of your
vehicle. The climate control system works to achieve comfort according
to your previous settings.
Note: You cannot adjust the system during remote start operation.
Turn the ignition on to return the system to its previous settings. You
can now make adjustments normally, but you need to turn certain
vehicle-dependent features back on, such as:
• Heated seats.
• Cooled seats.
• Heated steering wheel.
• Heated mirrors.
• Heated rear window.
You can adjust the default remote start settings using the information
display controls. See the Information Displays chapter.
Automatic Settings
In hot weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The cooled seats are
set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information
display).
In moderate weather, the system either heats or cools (based on
previous settings). The rear defroster, heated mirrors and heated seats
do not automatically turn on.
In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats are
set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information
display). The rear defroster and heated mirrors automatically turn on.

You can't "set default climate control settings". You can only put them on Auto or off, as per jmr061's post above, except for the climate control, you can set it to "Last Setting" which means your climate will be set as per the last setting when you last turned you vehicle off.

Just to clarify, if you want the items listed to turn ON with remote start, it was to be set to AUTO, not Last Setting. This has been discussed in this thread which I have merged yours with.
Everything you need to know on the topic is covered in your Owner's Guide.

How about windshield defrost mode? My windshield has a layer of frost that Id like to melt by the time I get into the vehicle, after starting the vehicle remotely.

Does it have to be OEM

In order for the remote start to also trigger the seat heaters, etc to come on once things are set to Auto, does this only work with the factory remote start or. Will other brands like Viper remote starters also trigger things when set to Auto?

Just debating if I must buy a ford remote or can get away with others.

Thx

After market will not auto control climate settings or the seats.

Thanks. Just sent you an email asking the same thing but also in regards to the 1000 foot range options. Looking forward to your reply.

Supposedly, turning on "auto" climate control; will enable heating/cooling based on the outside temp reading.
