I went to the shop and they want to charge me $1100 to change the lower rear control arm bushings. What is the easiest way to do these without spending over a $1000? I have read a few articles that say the bushing press doesn't work and some that say it does. How easy is it to pull the control arms off and would it be easier to go buy a cheap 6 ton press? HELP

they can be pressed and bushings are available in NAPA and rockauto. Are they installing Motorcraft lower control arms on both sides? with that price I expect it to be from a dealership.

That was only bushings and labor. They were insane with the bushing price. Trying to charge $125 each for them. They weren't replacing the control arm. Any idea if the bushing/ball joint presses from AutoZone will work? I plan on taking the arm off if they can be pressed. Otherwise I will go to Harbor Freight and buy a 6 ton press for $75. Better than $800 in labor costs. Also, how easy is it the get those rear lower control arms off?
