CoryL '91 4 Door Getting some Goodies!!! Complete off-road performance modifications.

I see you have a double cardan joint for the front shaft... mine is a single and I just noticed it is feeling a bit rough going around by hand. I always thought that front shaft should have one, but the driveline shop disagreed...

Oh well. I'm going to pull the U-joint apart this week and see if I have smoked some bearings or what the deal is...

Lets see some pics of the steering :-)

All the steering pics are on Page 8.

I haven't welded the ram to the tie rod and axle yet because its easier to bleed it this way. Once it's bled I will have pics.

As for the front driveshaft, with the suspension I am running the pinion angle will change, so a double cardan is the way to go. Plus it helps to clear the tranny crossmember.

The seats are in and bolted down.

All the harnesses have tabs welded to the cage and are bolted to them.

I added a few bars to the cage for some more support.

I figured out the air intake and am waiting for a specific K&N Filter to arrive.

Starter is installed.

Going to weld the steering ram on tomorrow and keep cycling it for bleeding purposes.

Hopefully get the brakes bled tomorrow as well.

Also going to pick up some bolts for the front driveshaft and get it installed.

ALMOST THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

wow I cant wait to see pictures of it in action. Also does this beast have a name? Just seems all the crazy rigs have names. (e.g. EX-250, the pumpkin, etc)

i think this
eek2.gif
about sums up your rig. its gonna be the "ultimate explorer" cept for maybe oknut's.

well they serve different purposes. Isn't Oknut's mostly used for mud bogs?

I noticed you replaced your seats and was curious to see if you had the old ones, if so I would be interested in them. I live in Northern Ky,let me know. Thanks Dave

Do you hate mud or do you fear mud? Hehe.

with a rig like that im pretty sure he doesnt fear it. hell i dont fear it and mines not as beastlike as his
he he

In Arizona we do not see mud very often, You would need rain to have mud and we dont see rain at all.
When we do find mud it is hardly enough to splat up on the fender wells.

Rock Crawlin is where its at!

Some pics of tonight's progress...

Boy was mounting that an adventure.

Rear driveshaft installed.

Front driveshaft installed.

Seats are bolted down and all the harnesses are bolted down and installed.

Now, I am expecting all the comments about how dangerous it is to put the tank there. It is no different than a fuel cell which many people put right behind their seats.

Once this K&N arrives I can get the intake built, start it up and fill it with fluids. Back it out and put the shoes on her! :D

sweet dude...how much are you charging for rides? :D

ROFLMAO!!!!!!

No offence but here you do all this REALLY nice work welding and designing stuff then you use plumbers strap to tie down your tank. Just thought that was funny. I know you will change that once everything is done. :P

Figure it is just as safe there as it would be underneath. People have to remember you aren't driving this on the road.

I've never tried to win a beauty contest with this thing. My whole goal is for it to be functional.

Eventually I will probably build some sort of cradle for it out of tubing, but for the time being, that was cheap and available. :D

What brand/model seats are those?

I went and bought a BII gas tank today for $60. I had heard that it would fit where the spare tire was in the Ex. They lied... Actually it will fit if you are willing to give up gobs of ground clearance and departure angle... I'm not so I;m returning the tank :(
