Instead, I used house-jack style jacks for inside sound systems, and then bought the special plugs that go into them. Although this was a more expensive way if you buy them (I found mine in my parents garage), it worked out pretty good. It leaves a lot of lenience to upgrade the wiring diagram and such, among other things I suppose. All I did was silicon the inside of it up and it was perfect.
Just use terminal cups, easy cheap and fast.

When you build your box, just see the specs on your subs as to what cubic feet of space they need and just do the math. (length x width x height=cubic area)
