costman13's D44 SAS

Okay guys i picked up my LP Waggy 44 last night! and have been doing nothing but reading and research for the past week or so, and still have plenty to do...

But anyways my ideas aren't too crazy, im planning on a leaf sprung set up with 35's (not sure which flavor just yet) 4.56's and a doubler. (its still a daily driver) i have a spool in the rear but will be replacing with ausie's front and rear, and still have not decided what to do about the difference in lug patterns. im not 100% sure about the leafs yeat either, maybe the waggy rancho 44044's?? or some modified TJ springs?

now how about some imput:D

Heh? I told you he's using the Wagoneer 7-leaf pack I sold to him. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear.

no no you did but i was just lookin at his thread, and saw some rancho's on his truck... it got me wondering

what was his reason for change??

what was his reason for change??
What change?

If you're talking about the Wagoneer leaves, I think thats what he ended up using.

I have no idea..maybe he just didn't want a pair of rusty leaf packs?

hahaha nothing a can of paint couldnt cure :D

isnt it getting a bit late for the senator back east??

okay i found a set of grand waggy leafs on ebay for about $70! looks like a good start to the weekend :D. although shipping is $55 from NJ... but what can you do

Any updates on this?

not really.. wish i had something to show everybody, but things have been moving extreamly slow...

What parts do you need/looking for?

still need to get my knuckles and hi steer arms and such. i just about have the axle rebuilt. need the gears installed. im not 100% sure if i want to do this on my own or not yet. but about knuckles, i was thinking about going to one of the local junkyards and getting some chevy flat tops and getting them machined, what do you guys think? inchworm gear and parts mike are both local and can do the machining, drilling and tapping for $100 for the pair. money is a little tight do to the holidays and what not... but i hope to get this thing done some time in january.

my goal for this week is to get all of the outer stuff i need to swap from 6x5.5 to 5x5.5. If im correct i need some 66-75 early bronco spindles and then the hub/rotor assymbly and all that follows for the same vehicle?

You'll need Chevy small bearing spindles, not EB spindles. Also, if you can find set of Chevy flat top knuckles only the driver's side knuckle will need to be machined. That only costs about $55.

so chevy small bearing spindles? anybody have a good referance as to where to pick these up at? or at least the spindle bearings, i could always get a used set of spindles.

From PMP (doesnt indicate what to get them from tho)

Also, read Mr. N's flat top knuckle article, it's very helpful!!!

There's also all the information you need about the Chevy small bearings spindles in the article.

FYI, many times you'll find the flat top knuckles and small bearings spindles together in 77 and older Chevy half tons.
