Cruise control/tachometer question.

hello all, I have a 2000 xls 4x4, and my cruise control does not work. the "speed control" light comes on, but nothing happens. also my tachometer goes in and out, sometimes thumping the window of the instrument panel is what brings it back on. any thoughts? thanks, John

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. Does the ABS system work?

Why thank you sir. yes the ABS seems to work fine, the light stays off, and I felt it working while off roading in some slick mud. so yes I believe it's fine.

When my 97 had that issue, it turned out to be a bad "disengage" switch associated with the brakes.

hmm yeah that could definitely be it. how could i fix that?

There is a recall on the cruise control deactivation switch & harness. The dealer should have the parts in stock.
