I took my 02 Explorer V8 in for the recall related to the brake switch a few months ago. Then the other day I tried to use the cruise control and the dash light came on, but the throttle wouldn't engage. The car just coasted until the dash light went out. I talked to the dealership and they told me it was "highly unlikely" that they did anything to cause the cruise control not to work. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?

My 02 explorer V6 was doing the same thing a couple months ago and it turned out that the cable had come loose from the throttle body. It could also be the connections near the brake master cylinder.

That's interesting, because I had to have the intake manifold replaced this summer for a coolant leak. I'll bet that's what happened. Time to call the mechanic who did the manifold. Thanks for the info.

You're the man, C2harvey. The cable was not connected to the throttle body. Easy fix. The dealership wanted $125 to diagnose it. I owe you a cold one.
