Ok I just finished fabricating my new intake. What my question is: what does that contron flapper thing do that has a vacume line going to it? It is on the lower part of the stock intake that sucks air from behind the grill. It is hard to explain. Do I need it. I just ran a straight peice of flex pipe to the custom intake. One other thing: can I take the air sensor out of the housing and drill a hole and put it in?

I have no idea, but I do know that we NEED SOME PICS!!!

tell me how to put pics up and I will

The flap thing is to control how much air goes into your airbox, take it out.

Yea I took out mine too, but now i'm afraid I might get water in there.

The tube routting air from behind the grill should be kept when using a custom filter, correct? I figure it could only bring in more cool air. What flap are you talking about?

I think you would only know what I am talking about if you took the lower part of the intake out and looked into it and you would see a flap that is controlled by a vacume line. Do yall know how to take the battery tray out of a 93? Is it welded in? Also I was tinking to put my battery in where the old air box was so that would give my new setup more room. How do you extedn the batt cables?

Hey bnichols04 you got those pics yet, send them man, I was thinking the same thing about the battery.

theres a temperature activated switch in your airbox that lets vacuum through at a certain temperature. the vacuum opens (or closes?) the that flap you are talking about. if you look closely your intake branches off after this flap, one end goes to behind the grille and the other is attached to a shroud thats mounted around your passenger side exhaust manifold. the purpose of the flap is to control the temperature of the air in the intake. it can either take hot air from around the manifold or cool air from outside. i took everything off my intake below the airbox and i noticed an increase in torque.

sounds like an idea i had but never had time to go through with

im actually using that little duct where the hot air actuated valve is with my custom psuedo ram/cold air intake. It's a perfect place to route tubing to and then im going to dremel out the top part of the duct so it fits around the bottom of my cone filter, then put up a heat sheild.:D

I FINALY got the intake to work. I had trouble with it cuz it started up fine but when I closed the hood it shut off like it chocked out or something. I unhooked the batt and left it off for like 10 minutes. Hooked the batt back up and all worked fine (even with the hood colsed)!!!!!!! I figured out how to post pics!! Look and tell me what you think.

nope, can't see them.

Well, can you tell a difference?
I guess with the vertical distance and all the turns, it would be hard for water to get in there.

Good Job, hope it works for you.

How would I extend those battery cables (+ and -) so that the battery could sit where the old air box used to be? You can see that the battery is at it's limits now and could slide around or even smash my MAF sensor. any suggestoins????????????????????????

Looks good thanx for the pics.

Just posted new pics on my web site (dead links) Check them out and tell me what u think

I have just come across a new problem! All is fine when driving but when at a light and the engine is at idel it wants to stall out. What is the problem? Is it getting too much air now? What do I do with the vacume line now? Not the one that went to the lower part of the stock intake the other one that has a T connected to it. Why does it want to stall out at a light now?
