CV Shafts; opnions

So I'm pretty one or both of my CV's are going out. I'm getting binding on turning, and my TT is only ~1.5".

This is my 3rd set; the 2nd set of remanu'ed.
Only reason the originals were replaced, was due to rips in the boots.

Reason I'm on the 3rd set, is I had thought some vibes I was getting last winter was due to the CV's.

Well now that I'm starting to get binding when turning, I'm wanting to know if anybody has had better experience with a particular brand of half-shafts.

Then again, I'm not sure how many different manufacturers make them.

A1 Cardone I know... since that what mine are.

I am going to be replacing the shafts again, except with new units this time, instead of remanufactured.

Any preferences to brands?

well it seems the only companies I can find are A1 Cardone, and GSP.

probably going to assume Cardone as they are American made...

but you never know now-a-days.

i just bought some from advance auto parts a few days ago. i bought new ones not reman's. they even priced matched auto zone at $59.99 each. i think they were GSP. and if i remember correctly they had a lifetime warranty, not for sure i had to buy about $300 of stuff from them that day and i was trying to buy everything with a lifetime warranty.

yeah, Schmucks actually seems to be the cheapest here... but the Cardone and GSP both cost $70.

Just not sure if one would be better than another.

i was talking with guys at different auto parts stores around here and all of them said the same thing. all of them are pretty much the same and the only real difference is the name. so i'd say get the ones with the best warranty and have the store price match with the cheapest one.

well I ended up getting 'em at Napa.
Schmucks didn't have any in stock.
CarQuest, where I always go first (they give me parts at cost ) no longer list new they only list remanu'ed.

ended up with Napa's MaxDrive line. No clue who actually manufactures 'em, though. Was thinking Cardone, but the CV housing have Interparts-HX engraved.

One other thing I noticed, is that with all the remanu'ed shafts I've gotten, they didn't come with the oil-slinger on the hub-end of the shaft.

But all the new ones seem to. Even at partsamerica.com, napaonline.com, and rockauto.com, all remanu'ed don't have that. But all new do.

$30/ea more than remanu'ed... as long as they last longer, I'll be happy. Not enough of a price difference to really want to go remanu'ed again, especially since they all seem to have the same limited lifetime warranty.
