yeah i know! i really don't want wires melting. hopefully i won't completely destroy the navajo in truckhaven, cause i won't be able to work on this care for a week or two.
well the black explorer is running. everything is hooked up and it passed smog no problem. but it has a "ticking" noise (prolly the valves) and there's a horrible sound when your inside the car that i think might have to do with the transmission. and a fun note, the brakes lock up right when you step on em. no slow stoping of the wheels. either no brakes, or lock up the wheels, nothing in between . thats how the black has been sitting for a while. would get it registered and insured, but we can't seem to remember where we left the pink slip
so this last weekend i started pulling the heads off my other non-op ford. the thunderbird super coup blow a head gasket a while back and has been sitting in the alley behind the office ever since. wasn't sure what i wanted to do with it, but i decided why not try to fix it? so i started.
i have both heads off now, but i can't find the camera to take a newer/ better pics. first pic is from saturday, second pic is from sunday, and if i had the camera, there would be a pic with both heads off
oh come get this thing PLEASE!! I recently had to move this stuff outta my buddies yard and into a storage unit whata PITA it was to move it using the Explorer!
im actually thinking about taking your transmission and engine both and rebuilding em'. if its free, why don't i rebuild them for the fun of it right? of course i'll have to make the tranny a 4wd tranny. then wait for my clutch to wear out, swap tranny's and a new clutch and ill be golden
of course im not sure what all intails converting a 2wd tranny to a 4wd tranny
as for your emgine, i could just rebuild and who knows. put it in one of my explorers or sell it something
seems like im having some of the same troubles as you cyber. if i picked it up, i don't know where i would put it. im sure my dad wouldn't want me keeping it at hi house and jim doesn't want it at his house either
i need to see how hard it would be to get the 4wd tailshaft
