Dana 44 front axle wheel bearings..

I am in the process of tearing down my 44 to replace the wheel bearings, and i'm having difficulty matching up numbers.. When I pulled it apart I found Timkin JLM104910 for the inner race & NTN (National??) 104949 for the bearing ring..

For the outer i have Timkin LM501310 for the race, and the bearing ring is not readable..

I'm also researching the origin of this axle, its non-vacuum, driver side drop, open knuckle, 6 lug..
There are no markings or numbers on the axle..

Thank you in advance.. ;)

((I am also in the process of a Dana 30 SAS into my Sport Trac.. Multitasking!!))

6 lug sounds like a Wagoneer axle. Here's what I got from the Rangerstation tech library on Wagoneer D44s:
"Axle Specifications:

  • 8.5-Inch Ring Gear Diameter

  • 1.31-Inch / 30-Spline Axle Shafts

  • 1.38-Inch / 26-Spline Pinion

  • 3.73 & Down / 3.92 & Up Carrier Break

  • Standard Cut Gears

  • Low pinion design

  • 297x U-Joints

  • Leaf Spring Setup

  • Disk Brakes

  • 6x5.5 Wheel bolt pattern

  • Wheel Mount Surface to Wheel Mount Surface is 62.5-Inches
The Jeep Wagoneer was a leaf-under-axle Dana 44. When choosing one of these axles, it needs to be from a 1980-1981 or 1985-1992 Wagoneer. 1979 and earlier had the differential on the passenger side. 1982-1984 had a problematic vacuum disconnect that was built into the differential for the two piece long side shaft and should be avoided. You will notice the vacuum line going to the top of the pumpkin. Wagoneer axles were only available with 2.73, 3.08 and 3.54 gears from the factory."

Can't help with the bearings, sorry.

I'm working on getting together more information.. I found that shortly after I posted, but it didn't offer anything on the part numbers.. I'm also learning that I am missing more than those parts.. There are a few seals between the steering knuckle and the spindle..

At some point, Ill be able to edit and add the part numbers corresponding with the universal years of my Dana 44..

I finally found the Bill of Material numbers.. They were almost unreadable and covered in paint (thank you CSP!!), I thought for sure the numbers were removed when it was fabbed up for the 4 link..
I was able to track down my axle..

610283 1987-'88 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Dana 44/216

I'm also working on a NAPA part # list for my quick reference..
I'm sure it will work for multiple axles, and any parts place with a part # interchange..

Same basic axle I am using. All the outer stuff is basically chevy big bearing stuff. If you need a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern you can use a small bearing chevy spindle with f 150 rotors and get 5 on 5.5.

Nah, it has 6 x 5.5 front and back, it responds well with the 36" tsl boggers..
I'm still working on getting the parts, tight budget.. the good part about doing things on a budget is you get to do it slow and plan parts ;)
