Did you remove the bolt that holds the pin in place. You need to remove the bolt then slid the pin out so you can remove the clip then the spider gears. Remember to push the axles in to get access to the clip then remove them with a magnet.

It is released but the cross pin can't go out because of the ring, it hits the splines.

I saw a video of the exact same dana35 a month ago and can't find it now. Guy played with this clip for more than 15mins and fast forward it when he actually managed to release it...

good luck getting it back in you gotta remove the cross pin first! then the axle shaft pushes in then you can easily get the C clip

If you remove the cross pins locking bolt (8mm), remove the cross pin, push the axles in so that you can remove the "C" clips with a magnet you can walk the spider gears right out. Installation is in reverse order.

Note: Don't round off the 8mm bolt on the cross pin or you're in for a bad day. Make sure the wrench or socket you use fits well. I never reuse that damn bolt, I replace it with at new one.

There is no cross pin retaining bolt in the front D35 carrier. It is a roll pin that needs tapped out, to remove the gears cross pin.

Okay, a roll pin then, but it has to come out to remove the spider gears, right?
