Decision on what A/T tires to get

I just got some BFG's A/T about 4 weeks ago. I don't off road, but lots of snow in MI. Went with 245/70R16, $537 mounted out the door. I'm very happy with them so far. Take offs were Goodyear 235/75, '02 XLT. Now I need some new rims My X is black, I want some black rims. I love the black on black look. Good luck. And I didn't notice the new ones rode any louder or harsher.

I just purchased some goodyear wrangler AT-S's. mine is 2wd also, but they are quiet, not harsh and only $150 each from discount tire (265/70/17)

Does the 245 look better with the stock setup, I was thinkin about 255, but im afraid it might be two big. idk, it would be nice if you could put em on to see if you like it before you buy it

by the way could yal post some pics of ur explorer with the tires on em, so i could see what they look like on the 3rd gen. body style. I cant find any on the internet

after switching to 265s i would never go back. 245s had seemed too small since i first started looking to buy a 3rd gen.

265s on stock lift. slight rub on the very inner fender well, fixed it with a zip tie...

These arent bad either, General Grabber AT2. I think they saw how well the BFG's worked and kinda copied. Sometimes you can find them a little cheaper than the BFG's and I believe they are rated slightly better.

Nice looking X. Thats one of my fav. colors in the EB edition. What kind of tires you have on it?

Well to answer your question in short, Im not sure personally.

Now the long version -
But, My friend has a 94 F150. Almost immidiately after purchase (used, he has owned it 14 years) he put the BFG's on it (looked and worked great!). The next time around, he was talked into the Grabber AT2's. Just the other day He put on his second set of AT2's and I asked HIM that same question. He told me that they are 6 of one and a half dozen of the other. He also stated that he bought the AT2's because they were cheaper. I asked, "what ones would you recomend for my truck", as I will be getting a set of tires for it in a few weeks. He said just go by price!

Now he has put 220,000 miles on the truck. There were another set of tires in there somewhere (he was in a tight spot financially and they were given to him with little use on them). He told me that he never actually kept track of actual mileage on each set, but his driving habbits and miles havent changed drastically. Said they were too close to tell. So, for me, I will buy the cheaper of the two. Which I actually think happens to be the BFG's for me and the size I need right now. Prices change though and sometimes the AT2's are less.
