'98 Explorer Eddie Bauer
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition with the Mach audio system (Audiophile) installed. I am installing my Pioneer DEH-2300. It uses the standard color coding so it was easy to connect to the wiring harness I bought. I have it connected and it works fine. I don't mind much losing the cd changer (in the bucket), but is there a way to connect the factory sub to my head unit? If there is a way to run the old cd changer, what is it? Also the problem with my factory head unit was that the display no longer worked. A solution to this is offered here, so should I do that and stop trying to do this?

Thanks.

I decided to proceed with my installation of the Pioneer head unit. I realized that the wiring harness sold I was sold at Best Buy can not be used in conjunction with my subwoofer. Instead I bought from Crutchfield, this wiring harness because it uses two harness so that I can utilize my four speakers and subwoofer.

After it gets here and I install it, I will let everyone know all went well and whether there is any popping.

Well I got everything hooked up and it's pretty good. The sub is working. Only problem is the sub sounds distorted. After putting my ear next to it, I can tell it's trying to play the high and middle pitches. Is this normal? I would think sub should only be getting the low pitches. What can I do to make it sound better?
