2000 Ford Explorer Sport
I've never owned a Ford, or an american car period. Figured I'd get a used explorer to last me a year or two until we can afford a new one. My wife used to have one and loved it. So I bought a 2000 Ford Explorer sports with 70,000 miles which I do enjoy but it had it had one problem. The stupid door lock wouldn't un-lock, it would eventually unlock after like 100 tries. Won't even work manually. I figured something was bent in there. Had no time to try to do the repair myself because of this new job and figured I'd just deal with the service center at the local dealership here in NJ. From other postings people said it would cost me like 200 bucks. They've had the car since Friday 7:30am. and still won't have all the parts. I've never seen a place take so long to get parts in my life. They are replacing the motor and whatever other parts are all connected to it and charging me like 540+ tax and my car won't be ready until Tuesday supposedly. Who knows if that's true. I learned my lesson, next time I'll do the work myself. Is there any good dealer service centers in NJ?

...Welcome here and I am sure you will be happy to have found this place...:D

i don't know any dealers over there i use to be in bergen county and would recommend all American ford in Paramus or hackensack

for that money you could have bought a door at a salvage yard and have it painted to match your truck.... the rear latch on my 97 did the same thing, I spent like 10USD fixing it and ~ 2-3 hours, so yeah it sucks :S

Welcome to this forum! You think 3 days is a long time to wait for parts from the dealer? I once had to wait 29 days to get something! The only way that it came that fast  was because I filed a complaint against the dealership with Ford's main branch. They said that if the dealership doesn't deliver the part in 30 days they will have to give me 100% refund. The salesman was upset at me  for getting him into trouble. I later found out why it took so long to get. The dealer was waiting for another vehicle which was under a warranty to come in for service which needed a similar part. They could bill Ford for the part, get 100% reimbursement, and pocket my money. The dealer would say that they replaced that part under the warranty for that person, but really never changed it. I found out about another thing they do. They advertise Ford original equipment remanufactured parts. They really get the parts from local rebuilders (rack & pinions, P/S pumps, etc), and tell you that they are from Ford. I can't say that every Ford dealership plays these games, but I know for a fact that one in Brooklyn, NY does this (I don't know about the other dealers in Brooklyn). That same place has a salesman which takes parts off of customer's cars, and sells them. He is very discrete about it. I once caught him, and he was trying to keep me quiet. The funny thing is that the service area has cameras all over the place, and he could get caught.

We took ours to the dealership here in Bloomington, IN once. We took it in to get codes ran and everything checked out. We got it back after a hefty diagnostic fee with a long list of parts it needed, and it ran worse. We popped the hood and found a couple hoses disconnected, and some plugs disconnected as well. The freaking sabotaged it hoping to make some extra cash.

Tell them to put it back together!(Cancel the repair!) Before its too late and DIY!

Get your truck back tomorrow! No ifs ands or buts. You just tell them how disappointed you are and get it back! Don't pay them a dime.

:hammer:

Good luck!

I wouldn't pay anything to those jerk-offs. Go get a the lock actuator and put it in yourself. It takes about and hour if you have the correct rivets and everything. Good luck!

Well the latest update today is that all the parts are in except 1 but they are still awaiting the rods. They have all the other parts but no one in the area has the rods and Ford says the items were shipped for delivery on Tuesday but the parts didn't arrive today. So supposedly they are arriving on Wednesday.
