Does a 1997 4dr Explorer XLT have a gas tank strap?

Is there supposed to be a strap or is the tank just held up by the skid plate?

you should have some tank straps. they are under the skid plate.

Yes, it has a strap. Don't you have the strap bolt still in place in the center of car ceiling.
The strap rust out. There TSB on the strap. The driver side strap hook into place, the passenger side bolt in.

Whoever took it apart last didn't put the strap on. I was held in place by the skid plate. My 2000 has a strap but no skid plate so I thought maybe they changed it.

They stopped adding skid plates in 99 I think? :roll eyes: if I remember correctly
