Had blowout on my X this afternoon. On Interstate 270 in Maryland. The truck one minute was doing 75 MPH in the middle lane then the tire blows out. I'm thankful I didn't do any damage to my truck as a result of the blowout or hit anyone else. Not sure if it was caused by some debris or something. Well here's what the tire looks like.

Definately debris damage.

Congrats on the save. Glad all worked out safely!:)

yeah the truck almost did roll.. I was going through a turn on I-270 at the time and the truck just didn't feel right.

Glade you are ok......

I don't know about that one but the face on my girlfriends was priceless when the rear end started to kickout a little.

Glad you handled it ok

What position was that tire on on the truck?

Right rear

Its what I keep on saying. Its not the Explorer that rolls after a blowout, its the driver that rolls the explorer after the blowout. Heres my blowout at 70mph. Absolutely nothing happened, I just pulled it off to the side of the road totally under control.

Damn.. Your lucky on that one..

TexExplorer. Was your blowout on the rear? I know a blowout in the front is way more dangerous then if it were in the back. If the blowouts in the front, the front tends to dip and roll. BTW glad your both okay.

Glad to see ya landed it safely Ben! Guess it's time for some M/T's now???:D

Took the tire to Sam's Club today to get replaced and they actually prorated the tire and gave me a replacement and I only had to pay $30.

Yup, thats definetly a hole in that tire!;) Glad to hear you made it through! I'm sure it was scary!!

Luckily no brown stripes :D
