How do you replace the dome lights? I took out the bulbs and the bulb wires are like soldered to the bulb housing.

Yeah sorry about posting twice. My computer was lagging and I thought it didn't post the first time because I was looking at the stickies.

The wires from the bulb are soldered to the bulb housing though. I can't pull the bulbs out without cutting the wire or something.

No one knows what I'm talking about? Do I rip the bulbs out and solder on the new bulbs wires?

Can you take a picture? What your describing doesnt sound like my dome light at all

I think you're thinking of a different bulb because the map light bulbs have a grey plastic housing on the bottom of them and the bulb does not just come out of it (the housing and bulb come out as a unit, but they won't just separate without cutting something). It's not something thats easily mistakable.

OP: I got fed up and was just going to get some from a junk yard. There was some black on the edge of the bulb, but the filament didn't look to be broken. Then I noticed the conductive strip that circles where the bulb housing meets the overhead console was not set properly. After messing with it for a few minutes I finally got the housing to hold the strip in the correct spot and the bulb worked. Just something you may want to check...

Yea it's the map lights. I was wanting to replace them with LED's. Can I cut the wires off and then solder the new ones on?

I just don't want to screw something up and then not have map lights...

Man, that looks so time consuming... Ughhh. Why can't I just pop them in like in the rear dome lights... lol

I still can't figure out how to remove the map light, even after going through those threads

On my 2001 the map light bulbs just twist then come out. That said I had the same prob as ugexe had with that flimsy metal crap..but I got it just right and they work..only one was acting up.

Just pop the lens out then turn the bulb counter clockwise..mine come right out..2001.

thanks, it did but tore the electric strip...****ty design but lights still work

I just got pliers and yanked e doodle away. Didn't break the bulb socket and plastic thing, so I guess it wont on you.

Does anyone know how to and which wires to(red black and green) solder/connect to the LEd's? I'm thinkin that the black is common ground? So, how would I solder/connect each to the Led's? Positive to where etc.?
Thank you in advance!
