The door ajar light and interior light stay on even when all doors are closed and the door causeing this problem is the driver side rear door..... where is the sensor located that tells the door is shut?

lots of posts on this. Go around and open each door with you key in run... the door that doesn't "bong" is the door that needs attention. Most people just "blast" the latch mechanism (where the switch is "hiding") with wd40 or your favorite lub.

The switch is in the door latch mechanism
Look for a 2 wire plug with Black and white wire, unplug it and door ajar light will go away, allowing you to set alarm also. Electric lock will still work,But ithe car won't recognize that door any longer, so you have to make sure it is latched good (poor man's fix)

I think the switch is part of the latch assembly ( kind of tight to get to, and $$$)
