You're better off sending the $70 to Rick as a contribution to the site. Or you could send it to me c/o the "Splat Buildup Fund."

2 of my friends have it and say it would be a good buy. One has it in a 2001 ranger the other in a 99 ranger. Thay both recomended it to me. they have no reason to get me to buy crap.

well, IMO it's crap; but do what you will. If you get it, good luck to you.

If two of your friends recommend it, then why come here and ask? IMHO, your friends are giving you false advice. There have been bunches of threads on this subject, and only one person (out of like 50) said it was any good.

if you think it will work then i have a hair dryer turbo system to sell you that will have double the hp gains of the tornado.

Or buy a "Serious Explorations" or "Explorer4x4.com" sticker to add 20 hp ;)

Seriously though, we don't have any proof here that they work.

Your friends' findings are all psychological.

Has anybody ever run tests, long highway ones and city jaunts, with the tornado in, and out, in and out to get some good results? I believe in the theory of it, but no one has proved that it really does increase hp or mpg. And I'm not talking about paid endorsers on the info-mercial like that silly blonde with the flower in her hair. LMAO!!

Most of the larger auto mags have run tests with no gain results. The theory is good as far as swirling air is more compressed air, but this is lost in reality. By the time the air gets to the valves, the swirling, compressed effect is lost. If you were swirling it directly before the cylinder (without the interference of the valve), it would work like a champ, but this isn't the case in any engine.

So, it produces no gain. Now, it is an object which sits in the intake tube. This means it is a restriction to the airflow. It takes the diameter of the airtube and reduces it. Therefore, it is the equivalent of having a smaller intake tube. Therefore, in theory, it should reduce engine performance. Does it? I have no idea. I have never known anyone to buy one.

IMHO if you were going to try something like that at least get a powered bilge pump vent, something like this to at least force the air through and not add restriction...

I read in a consumer reports a few months bag that they tested the tornado on a few differnt vehicles and most had either no difference or noticeably less performance after installing the tornado.

Everything works on TV. Would you spill gas on your hood and set it on fire or spill acid on it because you saw it on TV? Or how about that product that they drove a Dodge Viper with 0 oil pressure for a few laps around a race track. Thats why i hate those infomercials. They repeat those things so many times that the person that watches it gets hypnotized and believes that it works.

air tornado

i bought a similar product that works the same way about a year ago.... it was DEFINITELY bogus. i have tried it in every vehicle I have had since I got it and it has done NOTHING. It even got me worse gas mileage on the explorer (5.0) probably because it was blocking what little intake i have.

no mpg increase, no sotp power increase, even on my trans am...

yes if it was directly in the intake ports it would help a bit.... VORTEC engines ring a bell?

DON'T BUY IT!!!!

If you something that makes sense to add power get a K&N or KKM filter, these actually work.

As as eveyone else has said everything looks good on TV but this product is garbage.

The tornado only works on carbuerated engines.

The EFI applications are a joke, a gimmik, a gag. You mine as well send away for all the Ebay superchargers you can get your hands on too if you fall for this.........

I already have the kmm filter, a flowmaster catback, and 4:56 gears. Just though every little bit would help since I'm in hawaii and reg. gas here is over $1.80. Thanx for every ones opinoins and if any one else has any thing to say please do so.

What size tires do you have w/ those 4.56 gears...You need to gear higher if those are stock, for sure.
