I have a 96 XLT and the driver side seat belt has been jammed for months. Been to busy/lazy to take it to the dealer to get it fixed and was wondering if it's something I could maybe fix? I put the seatbelt into the clicker and the clicker just will not hold the seat belt. I don't know if it's dirty in the buckle itself or what exactly is but it's driving me crazy cause of course it's not safe to drive daily without a seatbelt on! Plus I'm tired of worrying about cops when they pull up and I don't have my seat belt on. I want this fixed! I tried spraying WD40 in it after someone told me it could just be dirty with "gunk" but that didn't seem to do anything. How can I replace/fix this?

Is it common?

I would under NO scirmstances repair a seat belt at any time for any reason.

That said you can get the buckle NEW for less than fifty bucks and with just less than basic mechanical knowledge you can replace it your self

just replace it. Go the salvage yard and get an '01 or somethin and swap it in. Its not a good idea to fix somethin like that.

Temporary fix: swap it with the passenger side...and of course inform your passenger that theyre SOL

HAHA that made me LOL at work... :D Okay - will do... I'll just get a new one. The buckles out the newer trucks work just as well? If I wanted a BRAND NEW ONE and not one from a wreck yard where would I purchase the buckle from? And would it come with the arm for the buckle or just the buckle?

your dealership or better yet look around here for the Ford Parts Network banner. They support the site.
