2001 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello,

I have a 2001 Explorer XLT that I just bought and I am having problems with the front driver's door power window. The auto down feature will only take the window down about 1cm and if I hold down the button from there it moves at a snail's pace down until its about 2/3's of the way down and it speeds up to full speed. This makes me think it can't be the motor but there must be something that is causing resistance. Any ideas?

ANY help would be awesome!

Check to see if the rubber mounting for the window track isn't blocking the window path, thats kind of what it sounds like is happening is some where in the track, there is something out of alignment causing it to slow in a spot, then speed when its past that spot.

If you can rock the window forward to back when it's about 1/2 way down, the bushings are loose or the glass has come off the bottom frame inside the door. Fairly common issue on 2nd gens.
