OK here is the problem more than likely.
the wireing harness that runs between the door and the fender is inside a rubber sleeve. it bends inside this sleeve and causes breaks over time. take the door panel off, remove 3 screws and remove the speaker, check the color of the wires coming to the speaker. Now take the panel off enough to get to the wire harness just inside the vehicle (the panel beside the emergency brake pedal just below the fuse box, you may have to loosen or remove the plastic piece that runs beside the seat to do this I don't remember). Find the 2 wires going to the speaker in the wire bundle. now you need an Ohm meter or continuity tester.
in one of the wires take a needle or somehting small and sharp. pierce one of the wires till you touch the conductor inside (the wire) now test the resistance between the needle and the connector with the door open and closed. the wire that is giving the problem either has an open or a short which can be found with this method.
when closed (the speaker is working the Resistance should be practically 0 Ohms. when the speaker is not working it will be either very very high or infinite resistance). Replace the one that reads this way. Make sure you use muti-filament wire, not solid core. splice and solder and insulate the new wire to the spot where you poked the hole for testing. Run the wire through the door and cut and splice and solder and insulate on the same wire inside the door.
Now your speaker should work.
I did this exact thing to make my passenger side front window work.
