I saw where this is an upgrade for us with the 5.0 engine, to get more power out of our engines..

What else would I have to replace or upgrade?

Cam.. rockers?.. (stupid question) but there is only one cam, right?

I found a brand new Ford Motorsports cam and Ford motorsports 1.6 aluminum bolt down rockers for $250... is that what I'd need? Where can I get more info on this?

There is only one cam. You would not have to replace anything else other than the cam and all the gaskets for items you have to remove. Swapping cams is a rather big task though.

As for the cam, someone over on Power Ranger Sports was talking about it in his Explorer. He was advising against it and said the computer didn't get along with it too well.

I love the cam personally. I have one in my 86 Mustang and in my V8 Ranger. But neither of those vehicles weigh as much as an Explorer or have that computer.

can we use other cams? I saw like a d303 and an x303... what are the differences?

Should not be a problem to modify the computer processing through a properly programmed chip.

E303 would be ideal; particularly if you have an automatic transmission and stock stall converter.

A chip could very well do it. I really don't know much about the computer in the X. I was just regurgitating what another said. You might get with the writer on the other site and see more about what he experienced.

The E does make a good, flat torque curve which, to me, would seem ideal in an X.
