Is there an easy way to replace the oil pan gasket or do i have to pull the motor?

engine must be lifted high enough for the pan to clear the pickup tube. Yes you have to pull the engine.

If it's leaking often you can torque down the bolts a bit to slow/stop the leak.

ok. thanks for the info . Ill try gettin them a little tigher

can you use gasket maker around the seam(where the pan meets the engine), kind of like using caulking on a window?? just a thought...

Big Hoovie, you could but its not going to get into the machined mating surfaces where the sealing takes place. You dont want to drop the pan 1/4" either and just shove silicoln or gasket maker in there because the oil pan gasket is a 4 piece rubber unit from the factory, if you dont get the front and rear and corners lined up correctly when you re-tighten..........then the engine would have to come out.

All the 4.0L's I have had leaked slightyl from the oil pan, not a big deal IMO especially when a little torque on the bolts will slow it way way down.

Hook up a shop vac to the oil fill tube, then turn it on. Then liberally coat the gasket area with silicone. The vacuum will pull the silicone into the cracks.

thats an awesome idea, I wonder if it works but again you better be really careful because if the rubber stock gasket moves into the pan you will ahve to yank the engine.

Sounds like a b to get fixed.

Could this be rear main seal also?

I kinda doubt the OP is sitting around waiting for a solution to this! ;)
