EATC Blend Door - No Power

Did any of you RESET the ETAC system after installing the new actuator? Needs to be in place, not outside, to "find" the true limits of the door swing.

I haven't ordered the actuator yet. I tested the old actuator and found the motor moves with a 9v battery. I wonder whether mt actuator actually didn't fail. I may just not get the power. By the way, how to RESET the ETAC? Using normal code reader?

test the switch checking for voltage out towards the motor.

My a/c control is automatic. Is this what you mean by 'switch'? If it is, how to test it?

by test the switch, I meant check to see if 12v comes out of the unit towards the motor when you set the ac to max.

further... relooking at circuit, 12v is always on the motor so you need to check that the motor is receiving a ground from the controller.

Thanks. I will try that when I get back home today. Previously what I have did is that I connected the power after I took the actuator off and ran the A/C from 60F to 90F and the actuator didn't spin at all. So I assume that the motor didn't get the power. If 12V is always on and is the motor didn't get the power, what could be wrong? Thanks!

that's what a meter is for... check to see if indeed 12v IS coming to the motor (just as you applied to your "bench test").... of course, your key has to be ON right? From there, you have to back check the wiring back to the fuse.

yes, certainly. will update with the result later.

Appreciate the information. This will help a lot of people like me.

I thought I had the blend door actuator problem discussed many times on this forum, so I took the trouble to remove the old one and get a new one.... what a royal pain that back bolt is! :frustrate

Just to check all possibilities before reinstallation, I disassembled the old actuator and inserted its gear into the blend door hinge and used the old gear as a "doorknob" to move the blend door back and forth and it works fine. So I know my blend door is not the issue. Ok, so then it was time to check the actuator.

After all that trouble of removing the old actuator, I hooked up the new one before installing it. I played with my temp controls all the way from Max A/C to full 90 degree heat and the actuator never moved. I checked my owner's manual and found that fuse #10 seems to be the one controlling the actuator so I checked the fuse and it is fine. At this point I'm scratching my head

It seems that I have another control issue of some sort. I did find another thread wherein someone mentioned the possibility that the entire dash A/C control panel may be the culprit (the one that has the readout of temperature).

I've already chased this with $40 in tools to get that d@m# back actuator bolt off and also the price of a new actuator I didn't need, so I'd like to make sure before going further. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to diagnose the panel [with voltmeter/etc] to see if that is the problem? Is there another fuse and/or relay under the hood that might be fried? Could there be another thing that is causing the problem?

hello, i have the same thing going on with my 2000 explorer, i checked the actuator and no movement at all also checked all the fuses and they are good, i read thru most of these replies but, did you ever fixed yours and if so can you please tell me what is the fix....thank you

^ Either it is getting power to the motor when you change the HVAC settings that would actuate it, or it isn't. If it is, bad motor (or blend door broken shaft, I can't see what you see). If it isn't, trace upsteam for where power stops. There are circuit diagrams in my sig below.
