That is correct. I've tried it both ways, it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Have you looked into the start timer setting in the dash display,ie: 5 minutes, 10 min, 15 min. that should show you at least that the car has remote start enabled. look in to the settings where you find KpH vs MPH or traction control settings, I dont remember exactly the path i use, but mine shows those choices once remote start was enabled..
I'm late to the party, sounds like you bought a new key and everything now works.
