I have an '03 EB that has a 3 prong male plug mounted in my grill. It looks too clean to be aftermarket, so I was wondering if this was a stock option?

I plugged it in for >15hrs, and there was no sign of it working as an engine block frost plug heater.

Does anyone know what this is?

Perhaps it is for the battery to keep it warm? Is your battery wrapped in some type of thermal jacket?

If I were you, I would jack up your truck and trace where the electric plug leads to.

I have one of those...never could tell if it was working..what kind of signs would you look for? I'm gonna ask the dealers

please, please let me know what the dealers say...

Had the front bumper off again today whilst installing tow hooks and low and behold the thing is disconnected. The 110volt ends about six inches behind the bumper with a 3 prong male harness. It disconnected from the female end, so all it took was a bit of electrical cleaner to eliminate the corrosion and a bit of force to connect the two back for good.

It worked at the time judging by the sizzle sound all frost plug block heaters make. I followed up last night be keeping it plugged in all evening and starting it up in the A.M. Temp gauge raised!

Kinda cool that this is a stock install. Nice feature to have in the -30F morning we sometimes get in Iowa.

I have the same thing on my 03 but never checked it out, figured my power bill is high enough lol, kinda thought it was a block heater of some sort. Thanks for confirming it for me.:D
