I am currently in the midst of doing an entire engine and transmission overhaul on my 03' sport trac. As I have about $3k into the engine and tranny(I am doing all the work myself), my budget for the exhaust is limited. The bottom line is the rear Catalytic converter flange is rusted out and mangled and has 180kmiles on it. I know I can get a flange repair kit and I wasn't getting any codes, but my gut is telling me to replace them because of all the dirt it has collected over the years, restricting flow. As you know cats are expensive, at the cheapest $325 for the rear ones and $450+ for the uppers.
I found cheap Chinese for around $175 on ebay(here), has anyone have experience with them?
I was tossing around the idea of deleting the rear cats with the rusted-out flange, is this a viable option? How could I avoid codes, bad economy....

What should I do? Any Advice?
