I am wanting to put exhaust on my 02 Explorer xls 4.0L. I want something that is not to loud but you can tell something is different. What would be a good exhaust setup to use?

in checking out all the forums ive seen alot of ppl go with the magnaflow 40s i also looked into them i just need to get the $$ to buy it

Magnaflow is a good choice for a v6, I have the v8 and went with the Flowmaster 40 series.

Give the Flowmaster 70 some thought.

You can tell its there when you get on it yet its quiet inside at highway speeds.

Good luck .......

I know that you can get some decent deals on Magnaflow stuff online. There's some serious markup at muffler shops on parts. When I got the Catalytic converter replaced on my Jeep, I bought the part online and then had my local shop install it for me. Gotta watch out for my bottom line after all.

I have 40series Flowmaster on my 04 Sport Trac. I like the sound on the Spot Trac but I think it would be to loud for a family car.

I myself am wanting to get a 30 series Flow. I have a 05 XLT 4.0

muffler

I have the flowmaster 70 series SUV. Has a good sound and is not to loud inside.

give a spintech sportsman a shot...nice inside if its not just chopped and sounds very *****en on the outside. way better than any flowmaster on a 4.0

any of you guys with flowmaster able to get sound clips on your truck. I'd like to see what it sounds like.

I had the magnaflow on my 03 xlt 4.0l but found that it was boged out and worse on gass then stock, and i found it didn't sound all that great. I took it off and put on a 40 flowmaster which made it better and been gettin better gass milage... the flwomaster makes it sound like a quite v8 i find and not very loud with highway speeds.... i am now going with true dauls. cutting her befor the y then putting two high flow cats going into two flowmasters..

Dynomax super turbo

I just had the dynomax super turbo installed today on my 4.0L 2005.
Kept the stock 2.25 piping. Extremely happy with sound. Not too loud and low tone.
Will have to wait and report if I see a change in MPG. I find myself driving a little more aggressive to hear the sound.

What part# dynomax did you have put on? I want the same set-up as you have for my explorer.

Anyone have the MAC catback?

Hey I've got an 03 explorer V8, and Im lookin into getting a dual flowmaster exhaust built up for me, and I was wondering has anybody done a dual exhaust that exits behind the rear wheels at a 45 degree angle??? I was kinda leanin toward that setup, and was wondering what others thought, and if anybody had any pics of it?

I know this is the oppsite of what the main poster was looking for but... I got an 03 4.0 Explorer. I put in a flowmaster 40 series and I hate it! Sounds stock after 2500 rpms. I then put in a K&N cold air intake, thinking it would help. Which it helped performance wise, but you can now hear the intake over the muffler. Does any one know, staying on a budget, what Muffler or what I can use to make my truck sound beastly? I want it to be a head turner. I want people that hear me pass to say what the hell is under that hood! Any one have a nice set up that makes there 4.0 sound like a beast? If so please email asap at smdunit@tmail.com thanks!!!! :D :exp:

If you want it to scream put the JBA headers on it, and a high-flow cat.

Is there not just a loud muffler? After headers and high flow cat its gonna be up in the $800's with out being installed. Close to $1200 or more to install. I'm trying to stay on a budget. Any ideas? :D
