Probably cause alot of guys go internal with ex's. I'm sure if you look hard enough here you can find a couple though. I would think a good place for general exo stuff would be pbb though. I know they're different but a cherokee and an explorer are somewhat similar and you could take some general concepts from them and apply them to the explorer. I have seen some threads on here about exos though, dig deep and you'll probably find them :)

not much help

i searched through 40 threads from an exo cage search and not one of them even came close to details about an exo cage. I tried different things in the advanced search and came up empty. I think this site needs a revamped search engine.

Only problem is that with an XJ, the tie in's to the body and frame are completly different because its a unibody. but thanks anyways. That design of the cage is almost exactly what i had in mind, cept for the rear area. I was hoping to tie mine into a tube bumper the resembles one my friend just got for hi XJ.

Another thing, for those comments that are coming.

I know its not as strong.
I know it adds weigth and size.
I know 410 thinks they are gawdawful :D

All I really want is something to offer some support when I lay againt a tree, the most common thing I would be doing. I only do serious offroading a few times a year so I dont need some crazy cromo cage.

any have a link to rangerx's cage. Ive read all about it but havent seen any decent shots.

There aren't any real good shots of it. The front mounts to the firewall and I believe the rear is just to the bed.

Next time I see him, I'll make sure to take pics of the mounts and stuff. I know a few people have asked how it mounts.

Search? No way! Thats for newbs who dont know what they are doin :D

Thanks, I found the exo cage test one but I didnt find the other, odd how I missed it.

Thats basically what i want, something to offer a lil protection to my head and the sides, nothing fancy. A picture of the cage to firewall tie in would make my day.

If one can afford it. :D

How can one not afford poop? Can you not create your own?

I meant DOM is quite expensive for an exo.

then at least use hrew, just dont get your supplies at homey depot.

rebar is the way to go if you ask me...or pvc, just get the higher quality stuff ;)

LOL

Even though XJ's are unibody you could still take many of the design elements from them. You would just have to tie it into the frame, same as you would an internal cage.

I found a link that showed a ZJ with gussets at the top of the cage that ties the body and cage together as it would prevent the body from flexing inside the cage independant of the frame. That would work perfect in my case as well. Although im not sure why they had it on a ZJ as its a unibody anyway.

Its a jeep thing, and I dont understand.

This is basically what I hope mine will serve as, a tree slider!

An exo cage with functional doors, looks like hell but its a neat idea and good fabbing.

A recent stroke of genius (or something like that) I have some new ideas. I started laying out designs for the cage, none which I really liked. I look at other chopped x's and the space left by the shopping dosent look very big for me, I want for of a pickup ish look.

And if someone wanted to get creative with photoshop, I wouldnt stop them.
