I ordered my Explorer at the end of January (almost 5 weeks ago) and Seni just checked the status (thanks Seni!!!) and he said it's unscheduled-clean and I should be getting a VIN soon. How much longer am I going to have to wait? I keep reading about the explorer and the more I read about it the more I want it to be here NOW! I'm getting really impatience, anybody else in the same boat?

Hey Youngr4!

My pleasure. :)

Send me an email, if you have not already and I will check it later this week and reply with an update. Hope to see some movement and report some good news back to you.

P.S. Seni <<< me, is a lady! LOL no worries! It happens all the time. I blame my Latin roots!

Lady Seni :D

Meant no disrespect when I said you had not responded, was just answering the question if I had sent a pm.. I know your busy, you don't have to help us the way you do and I understand that. Just trying all angles to find out why my cars being held or what the problem is lol..thanks for anything you do..

I think we are all grateful that you are here to help us when you can Seni. We know you're probably doing what you can to get us info as quickly as you can....in between your real job.

I know Sabres247 is probably feeling the same as myself, anxious, excited, etc. We  all you are doing for those of us that are waiting.....and waiting.....and waiting for this wonderful vehicle to arrive. :)

Ray,

Haha I could not help but laugh at the "in between your real job" part of your post. Mostly because this is my real job! However, I am a busy woman, when it comes to the balancing act that goes into customer service on various social media outlets. I really do enjoy being a source of information on this forum and return the  to you all! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. I will always do my best to get back to you all in a timely manner! :)

Hey Seni, I sent you a message for anupdate on Facebook as per your request to ask again on Tuesday. If you get a chance to take a look at it that would be great.

I am Don MacDonald on FB

I'm in the same situation, hopefully it's coming soon on the same truck since I'm in Ottawa too.
Update. My dealer shows the Explorer sitting in Brampton (Braintter) Ontario. That is the place where they are taken off the train and put on the transports. He figures it could be picked up tomorrow (Wednesday) morning and arrive here in the Ottawa area later in the day. Getting closer!

Damn you ended up beating me Peter. My new delivery date was supposed to be between the 28th and 2nd, originally it had been the 23rd. Then I was told between the 2nd and 8th but as of today it is still siting on a train somewhere in Idaho. At least it is getting closer, but I bet that it will take another week maybe even two to get here from there. A kid on Facebook whose mother ordered one was told it was in Seattle over a week ago and it still has not reached his dealer in BC:/

The Ex is still sitting in Toronto waiting for a ride to the Ottawa area. My Highlander lease is being transferred tomorrow in hopes that the Ex will be here soon. Dealer said he would provide a vehicle at no charge if I needed one for the next few days. Salesman said he would check from home tonight to see if it is moving and send me an email if it is. Big snow storm expected around here 15-20cm of snow and more tomorrow. Figures:rolleyes:
06:48 Thursday morning....still in TO

Damn Peter nice! I talked to my dealer today and then Customer service. They both said they are not sure why but they cannot find my vehicle in the system, it just shows as shipped and not where it is, though yesterday it showed it was in Idaho. The Customer service line could not even find my Vin, she is going to call the dealer tomorrow and see if they can figure out what is going on!

9 - 12 weeks is ridiculous. Goodbye Ford!!!

It seems like Ford made a mistake in not building an inventory of Explorers. It was a management decision that is going to cost them a lot of money, because they blew the convenience part of the product delivery. God bless all of you willing to wait 12 weeks worrying about when you will get your truck. It seems like people are waiting a minimum of 9 weeks for delivery now, and by May it will be 12 weeks. Sorry Ford but your product is not that much better than a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I hope that you will be smart enough to start building an inventory of your popular vehicles. Your poor service just cost you an opportunity for a new customer. I had always been a Toyota driver (4Runner), but now I'm heading to Chrysler...

It's better than a Jeep GC if you need seating for 7. Also, if you don't have to have the new vehicle immediately (impulse buy or lease ending - which could be extended, etc.) then waiting is the end of the world.

Ford did not make a mistake in not building up inventory of vehicles. What Ford is doing is very sound business from a few angles.
1. Making sure that the trucks in the factory are being built carefully ,so as to not have huge quality issues that will need to be fixed later and piss all the new owners off.
2. Making sure that when they build batches as they are ,they are being held and inspected to insure a quality product, this is a fairly complicated vehicle and things can go wrong ,and they want to insure the best that they can ,from a mass assembly standpoint. That was why the hold for a few days last week or so.
3. Due to the fact the truck has recieved all the great write ups from the journalists and media alike if you are in the market for a truck like this ,you are generally buying THIS ONE , and they can only build so many a day ,week ,month ,HENCE THE WAIT LIST. I am waiting just as impatient as all of us for mine ,but I wanted a particular color combo ,if I wanted BLK on BLK, I could have taken one off the lot ,that had an early build. I chose to have my combo and a latter build ,hoping that the few bugs there are in the early builds ,will be for the most part worked out. End of Novel.

I waited 5 months for mine! It's finally at the dealer and I'm going to pick it up in a couple weeks (due to business travel). The wait was painful!

I think you are spot-on. Demand creates a wait. There's no way Ford would have been able to build a large, unreleased inventory by the way. Cash flow just would not permit it. $24 billion in Gross Automotive Cash on the balance sheet sounds like a lot of money (and it is), but Ford could never sit on a huge number of unsold vehicles. It'd just be bad business.

Just heard that mine is on the move out of Toronto. Should be at the dealership late tonight or tomorrow. Made an appointment to pick it up Monday morning.:bounce:
Have they located yours yet?
