This is the one that seems to be backordered dealer has the other three, waiting on it to get my rattle fixed. Seems that the rattle is on the passenger side for most that have reported the issue thats where mine is driver side seems quite.

This is passenger side A-pillar applique. The seal, bracket, etc. is BB5Z803137-BA

Mine is at the dealer right now for the passenger side a pillar rattle. Sounds like the parts re backordered. I asked them to just order the parts first but the py wouldn't do anything without looking at the vehicle.

It looks like you're in Michigan... What dealer are you working with? Maybe I'll try to get mine there as well. Thanks!

I bought it from Village Ford in Dearborn. I guess they had a list of 12 Explorers which were in for this problem yesterday. It seems inefficient to treat each case as unique, but that us what ford is making them do.

Thanks for the info... When you say "each case is unique", are they taping some, and then replacing gaskets on others?

I guess they have to take it out for a drive and confirm the problem exists and all that stuff... Instead of just getting the parts in and having them ready for when I bring the car in.

Ok thanks... I guess I'm just trying to decide where to take it. I'd rather have the gaskets replaced, but I talked to Varsity in Ann Arbor and they stated that they took care of one that had "wind noise" by using tape.

I have had my Explorer to Varsity Ford in Ann Arbor for this issue twice. the service adviser that I had was Larry Haag. He ordered both A-pillar appliques and the brackets, seal, and hardware (bolts, etc.) for me. It is being all replaced today. I would contact him as he is aware of this issue and I have given him quite a bit of information on this including TSB references, etc. I have also talked with a couple guys I know at the Ford Tech hotline as well as some of the Explorer D&R engineers regarding this.

Wow, that's huge! Thanks a lot for the info! How long do they plan to have the vehicle?

Curious... Do the D&R engineers expect a recall for this?

I doubt there will be a recall. This is something that they will most likely take on a case by case basis for this model year as it does not affect absolutely everyone. I am in Ford Product Development Center often and work with multiple Ford engineering teams and in my discussions with them this is how I read the situation.

Basically go get them fixed and make sure you indicate you want all four parts numbers which physically include appliques, bracket, seal, hardware for both driver and passenger side. Also make sure that they check to make sure the windshield itself is sealed all the way around. There have been a couple cases that I've found where the windshield adhesive is missing in a very small section but this has only happened on 3 vehicles to my knowledge. This was just an issue with robots missing the marks slightly...functionally wrong...and looks to have been corrected...but can let some wind in.

Larry seems to be very willing to work with people he's listened to what I've had to say.

Well, thanks for the info, much appreciated! I'll give him a call hopefully get it corrected properly.

Can you confirm these are the four pieces that are needed to fix:

SPO BB5Z 7803137 AA, SPO BB5Z 7803137 BA, SPO BB5Z 7803136 AA, and SPO BB5Z 7803136 BA

Want to make sure nothing else is needed to get this fixed once the first gasket comes in off backorder.

I finally gave up waiting on ford to come up with a fix for the A-Pillar rattles, Mine both rattled(vibrated) depending on which direction the side wind was coming from! At my expense, I took my explorer to a body shop, and it took him all of 15 minutes to diagnose & fix the problem! The rubber gaskets that fit next to the windshield do not fit tight enough and a frontal side wind gets underneath & starts it vibrating! Do not know the official name of the rubberized sealant, caulk, putty or whatever, but it can be rolled & formed into a rope and worked underneath of the rubber gaskets to take up space, and fixes the problem without being noticeable! The material used to be used quite extensive in windshield replacement!! Not the proper way to fix, as ford should have the engineering ability to come up with proper gasket & moulding, but waiting 2-1/2 months just got ridiculous & frustrating! Just for kicks, tap on the metal right above the windshield, and let the world know the sound you hear!!! Ford needs to get their act together!!

WOW! Tired of waiting for FORD TO COME UP WITH A FIX? TSB months ago. Maybe your dealer is at fault. My dealer ordered parts and in one week had it fixed.

700 miles,
1). A-pillar rattle
2). Plastic cover on seatbelt buckle came off in my 7-year-old daughter's hand.
3). Sunroof not functioning.

have had my ex since january, just rolled 7k miles and did a round lake michigan trip last week, and then drove from chicago to joplin mo, to help in the search and rescue. Went in for oil change last week, now car is sluggish, has had a terrain management system fault, and now today, my window started buzzing, never had that issue before.

These are the four parts that were ordered for my fix. However, the fix is not full proof. I still encounter the issue as we speak and I picked up the car today. I have specifically isolated it though...it is the seal/gasket that is causing the vibration/rattle. Once some blue masking take is applied to a small section of the gasket about midway up it resolves the issue entirely. I think the gaskets are way to flexible and thus get too much air under them.

yes, from the looks of it... so flimsey that if it doesnt go bad in the beginning that with enough wind that it will give in. still playing a wait and read until it looks fully sorted out.
