I've got a 2001 Ranger XLT 2wd and I wanna lift the front 2 - 3 inches. I heard you could swap coil springs from an explorer(maybe V8) into my ranger to give it a little lift. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

try searching the forum....

but aside from that your ranger does not have coil springs, it has torsion bars just like all the second gen explorers. you can do a lift spindle like these here: http://shocksandsuspension.com/showitems_spindles-dc-5.htm
its towards the bottom if you look at the applications list.

98+ 2WD XL/XLT Rangers (except 2000 Trailhead XL) have coils up front but there is no Explorer equivalent. Ford made a number of different coil rates (6?) for these Rangers but I doubt that any would give a 3" lift. A spindle lift is probably the most common way to go.
