Nov 20, 4pm. I decided to have a sub + amp installed at a local electronic shop. It was close to midnight and it's not done yet:( Well, the sub and amp are in place but my vehicle went into fail safe mode..rough idle, dies down went accelerator is depressed etc.. the service engine light, a tool sign ( an open wrench), and adv-trac light came on. The service engine light went off after the battery terminals were disconnected and reconnected back but the other two lights are still on. Somehow there were wires near the firewall that were scraped off. Problem was not solved even after the wires were taped.

The next day my vehicle was towed to the delearship and the problem was explained to the senior tech. I'm not sure if much work has been done considering the upcoming big holiday..I did call the next day to check on the status and was told it should be ready by Saturday...saturday came nothing happens. I called this morning and was told that my processor was fried:thumbdwn: ..parts should come in shortly and my vehicle should be ready, hopefully, in 4 days.

Did anyone experience this before?

scraped off? If this is a "reputable" shop....get a lawyer.:fire: Even if you threaten to sue you may make out good. If it was at a place like NOTSOBEST Buy or Hackuit City most of their techs are 16 and have no f**king clue. I've been doing car audio for 8 years, as a hobby, and I have never scraped anything off.... hell all i charge is a 12 pack:D

There might have been a short circuit somewhere when work was being done.
At first, I was thinking that it was the security system ( I have the dealership install a remote start and security system) that's making all these happen and somehow it just have to be reset or something.
Everything is being taken cared off by the shop..vehicle repair and car rental.
I'm just overwhelmed on how "disastrous" can a sub-amp install be:confused:
Repair is just taken too long..I'm worried I might fell in love with the Mariner I'm driving now:D

It's been 15 days, I haven't got my vehicle back. Apparently, there are still some "shorts" the tech is trying to sort out.
My worry about this after I'm able to get my vehicle back, will it ever be the same again or once in a while some weird stuff's gonna happen. I would assume it would be thoroughly checked before it gets to me.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. After 15 days I would begin to think about taking the vehicle to a dealer for repair and sending them the bill. It's clear they have no idea what they are doing if it has been this long and still no progress.

Is you car at a dealership or the hack-audio shop getting fixed?

Same here only I've been installing for 15 years.

I think its at the dealership and he said the shop is paying for it.

That must have been one spanking system!!!

Yes, it is at the dealership.
Another bit of information I got yesterday..my sending unit was apparently affected  and it has to be replaced with a new one. That was a new one. It had been replaced before, as I mentioned in my other post about "service engine light".
Careful about installation guys. Accidents happen and it could be disastrous.

Thats why I do EVERYTHING that I possibly can. Only thing electrical wise I did not do was my remote start alarm. Didn't trust myself in that I knew I'd hit a button and hear a ***ZZZZZZ---POOF!!!!!-----ZZZZZZ****

Sorry, think thats what happened in your case.

I did an unscheduled visit to the dealership last Thursday afternoon and was informed that repair of my vehicle is completed (no details yet on what have been done). There is only one slight problem, and according to a company policy, my vehicle cannot be released until payment is received from the shop.
I immediately went to the shop and was told that the person in-charge to issue/sign the check/documents did not yet reply back.
Friday came, nothing happen. I called up the shop last Saturday but the call was not returned. I called the dealership, they have not yet received anything from the shop. Why do I have to suffer? I should be able to get into my vehicle, drive off   (and maybe not come back to the same dealership anymore if that is what they meant of customer service) and let both parties settle with each other.

What should I do? I think I have held my patience long enough:mad: . Car rental payment is taken cared of by the shop but it has to be debited first from my debit card (take note, not credit card) and claim the amount from the shop. I have to deposit back the same amount to make sure I have enough for my bills that are automatically deducted from my account. Too much of a hassle and I never demanded for any compensation for all the trouble.

Pardon me for this early rant..

another update.

I still have not taken my vehicle back:mad:
I learned that the shop is actually waiting for their insurance company to issue the payment to the dealership. I spoke to the service manager of the dealership to release the vehicle since they know that payment is being processed..they would not accomodate. He even asked me to pay up and claim from the shop if I wanted my vehicle.
I received a call yesterday from the shop's insurance co. telling me that they have been trying to reach me. I was surprised because I'm not dealing with them in the first place. They wanted me to send them a copy of the bill, which obviously I do not have, citing that the ones sent by the shop (2x) were not clear enough. The dealership also told me that they have sent the same invoice 4x.
This is gonna be long. I didn't have my vehicle last Thanksgiving and it seems, at the rate it is going, I may travel again this Christmas on a rental.

Any other thoughts of what is the best thing to do is greatly appreciated.

Lawyer for sure, the way they are treating you is BS. You may want to contact your insurance company, they may have some advice for you on how you can handle the situation better. My insurance company was more then happy to help me deal with another insurance company when I was getting screwed over for payment.

Lawyer +1

I do all my own work for this reason.
