My friend has a 97 Expedition that some one broke into for system and they purposely hacked his dash up with a knife or something, Question is I was thinking and if he was to replace the dash with one from a junk yard wouldnt you be running around with the wrong vin # plate or is that not attatched to the dash? That could cause problems.

I am not really sure on the Expeditions, but most VINs are on a plate mounted right beneath the dashpad. Most dashpads are cut out around it. Not 100% sure tho.

I thinks it's ALWAYS mounted to that plate. I'm sure it's a rule or regulation.
